Privacy Policy
Short version: Aptus does not collect personal information directly. Your game progress stays on your device. The app uses Firebase Analytics (Google) to collect anonymised usage data, and Google AdMob to serve ads. For users in the EEA and UK, both are subject to your in-app consent choices. For all other users, analytics is enabled by default.
1. About This Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how Aptus Puzzles ("we", "us", or "our") handles information in connection with the Aptus mobile application (the "App"), available on iOS and Android. By using the App you agree to the practices described here.
2. Information We Collect
We do not collect any personal information from you directly. The App does not require you to create an account, sign in, or provide any personal details.
All game progress, settings, and statistics are stored locally on your device using your device's own storage. This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us.
The App does, however, transmit anonymised usage events to Google via Firebase Analytics (see Section 4). This is limited to data about how you interact with the App — not who you are.
3. Advertising — Google AdMob
The App displays advertisements provided by Google AdMob, a third-party advertising service operated by Google LLC. To serve and personalise ads, Google AdMob may collect and process certain information from your device, which may include:
- Advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS; Google Advertising ID on Android)
- Device type, operating system version, and language
- General location data derived from IP address
- App usage and interaction data for ad relevance
This data is collected and processed by Google, not by Aptus Puzzles. Google's collection and use of this information is governed by Google's Privacy Policy, which you can review at policies.google.com/privacy.
You can opt out of personalised advertising at any time through your device settings:
- iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising → turn off Personalised Ads. You can also reset your Advertising Identifier from the same menu.
- Android: Settings → Google → Ads → opt out of ads personalisation, or reset your advertising ID.
4. Analytics — Firebase (Google)
The App uses Firebase Analytics, an analytics service operated by Google LLC, to help us understand how the App is used and improve the experience over time.
Firebase Analytics may collect and transmit the following information to Google's servers:
- A pseudonymous app instance identifier (not linked to your name or email)
- Device type, operating system version, and language
- App version and session duration
- In-app events, including: which game screens you open, when you start and end a game, your game settings, outcome (won/lost), score, and time taken
We do not collect your name, email address, or any other information that directly identifies you. Event parameters are limited to game-related data (e.g. game name, difficulty, score).
Consent: Analytics collection is disabled by default. For users in the EEA and UK, it is only enabled if you grant consent through the in-app privacy prompt. For users in other regions where a consent prompt is not legally required, analytics is enabled automatically.
Google's collection and use of analytics data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy at policies.google.com/privacy. You can also review Google's Firebase data retention and privacy practices at firebase.google.com/support/privacy.
To opt out of analytics data collection, you can:
- Withdraw your consent using the privacy controls in the App (EEA/UK users)
- iOS: Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking and disable tracking for Aptus
- Android: Go to Settings → Google → Ads and opt out of ads personalisation, or reset your advertising ID
5. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has used the App, please be aware that all game data is stored locally on the device and no personal information is transmitted to us. If you have questions, please contact us using the details below.
6. Data Security
We do not operate our own servers and do not store your personal data ourselves. Your game progress and settings are protected by your device's own security mechanisms (lock screen, encryption, etc.).
Analytics event data transmitted via Firebase Analytics is processed and stored on Google's infrastructure, which is governed by Google's own security practices. Advertising data collected by AdMob is similarly handled by Google. We encourage you to review Google's security commitments at safety.google.
7. Third-Party Links
The App may display links to third-party websites or services (for example, the App Store or Google Play). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing any personal information.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
9. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights regarding personal data — such as the right to access, correct, or delete it. Because we do not collect or store personal data ourselves, most of these rights are exercised through your device or through Google.
- Advertising data (AdMob): Manage or delete data via Google's privacy controls at myaccount.google.com/data-and-privacy.
- Analytics data (Firebase): Firebase Analytics data is associated with a pseudonymous app instance identifier, not your identity. You can reset this identifier at any time by resetting your device's advertising ID (see Section 4 for steps). You can also request deletion of Firebase data via Google's controls at the link above.
- EEA / UK users: You may withdraw consent for analytics and advertising at any time through the in-app privacy prompt, and Google will stop collecting new data. For data already collected, use Google's privacy controls.
